Coverage when daytime hours are not enough
Some clients need support overnight or continuous presence. We offer two common models: split-shift (typically two home attendants with 12-hour shifts) and live-in (a caregiver stays in the home for a 24-hour period under appropriate conditions).
The right model depends on care intensity, the home’s sleeping arrangements, payer rules, and what the client can tolerate. We sort this out during assessment — not with a one-size sales pitch.
When families consider 24-hour care
- High fall risk or night-time wandering
- Post-operative or hospital sitters stepping down to home
- Advanced dementia needing continuous cueing
- Family caregivers who are exhausted after years of solo care
